Rewarding Loyalty With Learning

It's Monday... across the globe many new hires are experiencing their first day at companies, battling Imposter Syndrome, and wondering if they made a good choice accepting their new roles. As Talent Development leaders, we have a huge responsibility in helping our new hires feel confident in choosing us and prepared to jump into their jobs with quick wins and the resources they need for short and long-term success. But let us be cautious... when we place a ton of time, energy, and emphasis on decreasing ramp time and boosting new hire sentiment, we often end up neglecting the tenured people in our companies. Over time, this means the people who have stayed, contributed, and been loyal to us end up being outpaced by the people who are new and have been given a much better chance at success... another unintended consequence born of good intentions. If we don't find a way to balance our efforts and level the playing field, we run the risk of our tenured employees becoming new hires... with our competitors. Share the love this year... retain your employees by giving everyone a chance to shine.
