Smarter Goals

Setting goals can feel like a cumbersome process. So can the effort to achieve them. Some goals require a lot of work, and others seem relatively easy when we put them on paper, but end up being way more messy or difficult than we anticipated. To address this, I work with my clients to write SMART goals after we debrief their 360 feedback reports. This helps us get super clear on how we’ll continue maximizing their unique and valuable contributions to their organizations, while also addressing their individual growth areas. But we don’t stop there. We get smarter. As part of this process, I also have them identify possible roadblocks to achieving their goals along with subsequent countermeasures. Proactively identifying what has the greatest chance of standing between you and your success, leaves you better prepared for those unknown challenges that may surprise you down the line. And it closes the gap between you and the celebration you’ve earned by achieving what was, months earlier, just an idea some consultant had you capture on a worksheet because they believed in you.
